How to create a Key Result without a starting metric
Often when starting to implement OKRs you may not have any previous measures to use as a benchmark for the quantitative key result.
In this case you have 2 main options:- Decide what it is that you want to measure, then create an activity or ToDo that enables you to come up with a measure during that first period. Once you have that measure you can use it in the upcoming period. That measure becomes the starting point for creating the value-based Key Result.
- If you have test data or are able to run a pilot that enables you to come up with a measure, use this information as a starting point for your value-based Key Result.
At the end of the period use the retrospective process to decide how effective the metric was.
